Someone will always be prettier, someone will always be smarter, someone will always be younger, but they will never be you -Kanye West.

No, this post is not about love, kim or Kanye.

In the past few days, I’ve been thinking a lot about choices, and what we sacrifice as a result of the ones we make, wondering if some of these things are worth it in the long run.Picture for blog You check your budget, get a car you think is nice and then look around and realise there’s a billion prettier cars, and how hard you could have worked to get the prettier one, even though you know you did your best. You start to doubt your choices and decisions.

Over time though, I have understood, this is the human struggle, this is what breaks up relationships and marriages, this is what drives people to unwarranted ambition, this is why eve ate the flipping fruit, even though she had Adam and Eden. it’s easy, WE WANT MORE.

So a few days ago, I told myself. “Bimpe, you’ll have these days, but when they come, you have to remember why you chose to be here, why you chose to do this, please let that be enough to keep you sane and keep you here. Stick to your choices, because there will always be a nicer car, a prettier and more fun lady or young man, a more beautiful and attractive job, a better house, etc… but you chose this one so please stick, especially if the reason you chose it has not changed, if not you’ll keep chasing the wind, and then realise you’ve missed out on the best things that happened to you. So work your ass off to get a better life, but be happy and contented where you are and remember why you chose to be here, especially on the days when it seems like it’s brighter on the other side, because it’s never brighter on the other side. Never.”

I don’t know if this will be enough when those days come, but I sure hope it is, both for me and for you readers too, I hope we can come here and remember that we all struggle with the same things, I hope we learn from each other and  lastly I sure hope our choices and how we stick to them, will make the younger versions of us, happier and proud.
